The Temple is located in a remarkable location next to the Marichi beach and Wilhelmina park. It is recognizable by its beautiful striking yellow color, the symmetrical layout of the facades and the tower. The purpose for building the Temple in 1865 was because the Dutch reformed Jewish community of Emanu-él had separated from the Orthodox community of Mikvé Israel. By 1963 the two Jewish parties were reunified and the Temple no longer has been used as a synagogue from then on. The Temple has been used by the Public Ministry since 1999.
